You can’t beat a good wedding and we’re so lucky at Woodhall Manor to be able to witness so many stunning ceremonies and celebrations. As the year starts to draw to a close, we’re taking a look back at our favourite celebrity weddings that have taken place during 2016, so you can pinch some of their star quality ideas for your very own wedding day.
Laura Trott and Jason Kenny
Our absolute favourite Olympians, cyclists Laura and Jason tied the knot in September. Having amassed a frankly amazing haul of ten Olympic gold medals between them, we wonder if the thrill of getting hitched was able to match the adrenaline high of their sporting achievements.
The couple declined a lucrative deal from a celebrity magazine, preferring instead to marry in relative secrecy in Cheshire with just friends and family in attendance. When they surprised everyone with the unexpected announcement that they’d wed, the happy couple shared some intimate shots from their big day to the press.
Laura’s Naomi Neoh dress was one of our favourite celebrity dresses this year with its gorgeous sweetheart bodice and lace sleeves. The bridesmaids wore beautiful bluey lilac dresses from High Street favourite Coast, and all the girls clutched tightly grouped bouquets of pastel roses.
In a nod to family members who have suffered from dementia, the couple asked guests to make donations to Dementia UK instead of buying wedding gifts.
Heidi Range and Alex Partakis
We have to admit to being hugely jealous of the stunning images released by Sugababe Heidi Range of her September wedding in Tuscany. Heidi married her partner of three years, Alex, in the rustic countryside outside Florence in a glamorous ceremony that saw the gents donning crisp tuxedos.
Heidi looked absolutely stunning in her Suzanne Neville gown that featured long, lace sleeves and a full length embroidered veil, while her gorgeous bridesmaids wore dramatic full length black gowns.
One element we’d love to copy is the exquisite floral arch that served as the backdrop for the couple to say their vows. After the ceremony, guests mingled in the sunshine enjoying glasses of rose and no doubt fabulous Italian cuisine.
Ciara and Russell Wilson
Historic Peckforton Castle in Cheshire was the fairytale setting for American singer Ciara and her beau, Seahawks football star Russell Wilson, when they became man and wife in early July. The couple invited 100 guests to share their special day, many of whom travelled from America to join in the lavish celebrations.
With singers Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Rowland in attendance, it was truly a superstar bash. Sadly missing on the day was bridesmaid Serena Williams who had to pull out at the last minute when she reached the Wimbledon quarter finals and was required on court in SW19!
The bride pulled out all the stops in a couture gown by Roberto Cavalli that featured a dramatic plunging neckline, lace up bodice and elaborate lace applique detailing.
Music was provided by the legendary group Earth, Wind and Fire as the party carried on well into the early hours. Sounds like a great night to us!
Kimberley Walsh and Justin Scott
On the Caribbean island of Barbados, Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud finally married her long term partner and father of her son Bobby, Justin Scott. The couple went all out with celebrations that lasted three days and included a welcome cocktail and canapes party, the sumptuous wedding celebrations, and even a catamaran cruise the day after the wedding.
Guests enjoyed traditional Barbadian hospitality as well as the magical experience of swimming with turtles and a raucous beach party where the rum punches were free-flowing!
The bride was supported by best friends and bandmates Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nicola Roberts, and celeb bestie Denise van Outen also travelled to the Caribbean to witness the nuptials of the happy couple.
