Wedding Makeup

We’re still full of the joys of Spring so following on from our blog on Spring wedding flowers, this week, we thought we’d turn our attention to the hottest beauty trends influencing Spring brides this year. We have rounded up out favourite makeup products and trends to share with you to make sure you’re looking your best on your Spring wedding day.

1. Flawless and natural

Your wedding photos are going to be admired and looked at for years to come so you want to try and work towards a timeless look that won’t date. Our advice is to avoid using lots of colour, and keep it nice and simple by focussing on natural shades and tones. It’s perfectly ok to use an accent colour to make your lips or cheeks ‘pop’, but overall, a ‘less is more’ approach is best.

2. Go glow

Spring is all about the awakening of the earth after a long winter’s rest. Everything feels revitalised and refreshed so to keep your skin looking the same way, reach for highlighting products that will provide you with a natural looking glow, leaving you looking healthy and sun-kissed. There are lots of wonderful highlighters on the market but we really like NARS Hot Sand illuminator.

3. Colour trend

We noticed that orange hues appeared on multiple catwalks at the 2017 Bridal shows as an influential makeup colour. It sounds like a bold choice, but used sparingly and paired with a more natural cheek and eye palette, it looked great and didn’t dominate. If you think that orange is too much of a bold shade for you, then maybe try more subtle shades of coral and peach. If you’re up for the orange challenge, we say try MAC’s Velvetease Lip Pencil in Lover’s Lane.

4. Fabulously floral

Take inspiration from Spring florals for your wedding makeup tones and you won’t go far wrong. Dusky pinks are very popular this season, particularly when used as eyeshadow and look fabulous partnered with a soft pink lip. Try MAC’s Velvetease Lip Pencil in Tease Me for a subtle, soft pink.

5. Loving lilac

Another firm Spring favourite is lilac that is a slightly more grown up and elegant alternative to pink. Go for a fresh Spring look with a sprinkle of a sparkly lilac eye shadow swept across your lids. Our go to lilac is the stunning Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Silver Lilac.

6. Lash lengthening

If you’re going for a subtle, soft eye colour, it’s really important to make your eyes stand out by accentuating them with a really high definition mascara. Remember to choose a waterproof option for those emotional moments! We love Maybelline’s New York Great Lash Waterproof mascara that is hard to beat and also super reasonable compared to some of the premium brands.

7. Tint don’t cake

We’re sure you’re taking your pre-wedding beauty regime super seriously and getting loads of sleep and drinking gallons of water! So, to make the most of your sparkly new skin, why not ditch your full foundation and go for a tinted moisturiser instead. It’ll help you maintain a fresh, dewy glow all day long that’s way more natural than a full coverage option. Benefit do a great product called You Rebel Tinted Moisturiser that is ideal for fairer skin.

8. All out glamour

Some brides swap dresses for the evening do, but we’ve always thought this is a bit of a shame – after all, you only get one chance to wear your wedding dress, so we’re all for maximising the opportunity! Why not create a different kind of distraction by updating your makeup in the evening to a more sultry, sexy style? There are some great tutorials on YouTube for step by step guidance on how to create a wow look yourself, or maybe ask your bridesmaids to learn some smokey eye tricks that they can apply for you.
