Alice and Thomas’s wedding at Woodhall Manor was the epitome of winter romance – elegant, warm, and full of character. The couple wanted a venue that could do it all: host their ceremony, celebration, and overnight guests in one perfect location. With its historic charm, rich interiors, and vibrant cocktail bar, Woodhall Manor offered everything they envisioned and more. Set against the crisp winter backdrop, their day was filled with candlelight, laughter, and timeless touches that reflected their personalities beautifully.

In the lead-up to the big day, planning was made simple with the help of the Woodhall Manor team. “Jade was great and looked after all our random requests and questions,” says Alice. “This helped make it an enjoyable process.” With such support, the couple could focus on the excitement and anticipation of their winter wedding rather than the logistics.

Playing into the season, Alice and Thomas chose a rich and sophisticated winter palette. “We wanted to play on the fact that it was winter,” they say, “so bringing in all the rich winter colours (but not making it festive) and making the most of the limited daylight and long nights with candles and sparklers.” The result was a warm, romantic atmosphere that glowed from ceremony to last dance.

For their vows, the couple chose one of Woodhall Manor’s most striking spaces. “We chose to get married in the Ballroom, making the fireplace the centrepiece with beautiful dried flowers on it,” Alice shares. “This room worked for us as it had the grand architectural fireplace, it was inside yet had great light through the big window/doors and was a good size for the number of guests.” The Ballroom’s grandeur and natural light provided the perfect backdrop for their heartfelt ceremony.
The ceremony was filled with emotion from start to finish, and both Alice and Thomas remember it as the most meaningful part of the day. The moment Thomas saw Alice walking down the aisle will always stay with him, while for Alice, it was seeing his reaction and sharing their vows together.

As the celebrations continued, food played an important role in creating the atmosphere they wanted – relaxed, seasonal, and comforting. Their menu was full of rich winter flavours: ham hock to start, followed by beef bourguignon, and finishing with sticky toffee pudding. The dishes reflected everything they loved about winter dining. Sticky toffee pudding, an all-time favourite, was the perfect way to end the meal, adding a sweet and familiar touch to the evening.

When it came to photographs, Alice and Thomas chose to make the most of the manor’s impressive setting. Out at the front, with views of the sweeping drive and the house behind them, they captured some of their favourite moments of the day. The historic architecture and soft winter light made it an unforgettable backdrop – timeless and effortlessly elegant.

Over the course of the weekend, the couple and their guests made full use of Woodhall Manor’s many spaces. The main house and house bar room quickly became favourites. Each room carried a sense of grandeur while remaining welcoming and comfortable, and the large, elegant bedrooms made everyone feel at home. The pool table and jukebox were particular highlights, giving guests the chance to unwind and enjoy the celebrations throughout the weekend. The balance between relaxation and celebration was exactly what Alice and Thomas had hoped for.

As night fell, the celebrations moved to the Garden Lounge, which became the heart of the evening. The room’s stage was the perfect setup for their band, and with space for dancing, it transformed into a lively, joyful atmosphere where everyone could enjoy themselves. The lighting, the music, and the sense of energy made it feel like a proper party, with guests dancing late into the night.

The wedding weekend did however begin the night before, when both Alice and Thomas stayed in the main house. It was the perfect way to start things off, sharing a dinner that everyone commented on and enjoying the calm before the celebrations began. Alice stayed in the Queen Suite, while Thomas stayed in the King Suite – both stunning rooms that gave them space to prepare and relax ahead of the big day. Getting ready in those same rooms the next morning made the start of the wedding day feel even more special.
Alice and Thomas credit their team of suppliers for helping bring the day together so seamlessly. Their photographer, Beth, captured the day in a way that perfectly reflected them and their guests, creating images that tell the story beautifully. Videographer Ben Raceday filmed the day with the same care and attention, giving them memories to treasure forever. Their bouquets were sourced from BaeGarden on Etsy, and the exquisite fireplace display and Great Hall decorations were designed by Victoria Reynolds. Their cake, baked by Elisa Pinion, was a true highlight, while hair and makeup were by Karen Lowe and Emma Quinn – a brilliant team who helped make the morning relaxed and enjoyable.
Alice and Thomas’s winter wedding at Woodhall Manor was a true celebration of warmth, style, and togetherness. It was a winter wedding that captured the magic of the season – elegant, welcoming, and full of heart.
