The Story
Leanne, having worked at Woodhall Manor, how did it feel to experience a wedding here as a bridesmaid rather than in your usual role?
Having my best friend come to view Woodhall and of course falling in love with it, initially I was a little apprehensive about being her bridesmaid at my place of work, but this soon disappeared! During her planning journey I was able to help, guide and reassure throughout the whole process (extra bridesmaid points!), which was important to me. As for the actual wedding day, it was perfect, and we are so lucky to have the best team at Woodhall to have made this possible.
What was it like seeing the venue from the other side – as part of the wedding party? Did anything surprise you or stand out differently?
If it was even possible, it made me love my job even more. We were so well looked after, the whole day ran so smoothly, we never felt rushed or on a timeframe. The food was sensational, and the service faultless. Not once did I feel like my work hat went on!
What was your favourite part of the day as a bridesmaid? Was there a particular moment that made the experience unforgettable?
It’s going to sound cliché, but I loved every single part. However, if I had to pick a moment, it was just before we walked down the aisle in the Walled Garden for the ceremony, the sun was shining, the garden was looking beautiful, the doves were out, a few seconds of pure bliss, ready for the most perfect day.
How did the bridal preparations go at Woodhall Manor? Was there a special place you all gathered to get ready?
We stayed in the Cottage the night before which was great, we then moved over to the Secret Room to start hair and makeup, We had so much food, a few bubbles and lots of giggles. There was only 4 of us getting ready for the first few hours, so it felt quite relaxed, something I’d recommend for the morning, not too have too many in the bridal prep room all at once, so you can enjoy in a nice calm environment!
As someone who knows the venue well, did you have any advice or tips for the bride or the other bridesmaids?
To stay the night before at the Cottage as it really takes off any pressure for the wedding morning. Also, my friend could only have a 2:30pm ceremony time which initially she was upset about, but it meant we could have an extra hour in the morning for getting ready, photos, reveals etc. however what was really important to her was the evening, so she decided not to have desserts to ensure her evening guests could still arrive at her preferred time, and opted to have extra canapes during the drinks reception instead. She was very grateful because it is all about finding out what’s important to each couple and accommodating where we can to make their day extra special.
How did the wedding day atmosphere at Woodhall Manor feel from a guest’s perspective? Did it live up to your expectations?
Above and beyond, I know the venue is stunning and everyone works exceptionally hard to ensure every couple has a perfect day, but seeing my best friend’s wedding dreams come true, made it unforgettable.
What was your favourite spot at the Manor to take photos as a bridesmaid? Any hidden gems you would recommend to future bridal parties?
My favourite place for bridal party photos is in front of the Manor House, walking down the driveway with the Manor behind you. For just the bride and groom, my favourite place is in the hidden walkway’s next to the Manor, there are paths cut out in the longer grass, it creates beautiful pictures, especially at golden hour!
How did you and the other bridesmaids celebrate during the evening reception? Did you enjoy the afterparty?
We did not leave the dancefloor! They also had a 360 camera in the birdcage, which was great fun, everyone had such a great evening.
As part of the wedding party, what did you think about the overall flow of the day? Did everything run as smoothly as it does when you’re behind the scenes?
100%, it was faultless.
What was the reaction of the other guests who hadn’t been to Woodhall Manor before? What did they love about the venue?
They loved it, many asked what it was like working in such a special place. Although my favourite reaction of the day was during the wedding breakfast from the Father of the Bride, when he cut into his Black Pudding Scotch Egg and shouted ‘WOW’! I guess he likes his eggs slightly runny!
If you could relive one moment from the wedding day as a bridesmaid, what would it be and why?
So many to choose from, I think it would have to be getting ready in the morning, we had so much fun getting glammed, lots of big smiles, plenty of food and bubbles – perfect.
Finally, is there any advice you’d give to future bridesmaids coming to Woodhall Manor? Any tips to help them make the most of the experience?
The Woodhall Team are devoted to making your day unforgettable, if there’s something we can do to make your day extra special, please say, because we might just be able to make it happen. To make the most of the amazing events they offer, to ask lots of questions, but most of all, to enjoy your planning journey!
